12th Annual South Shore Summer Fest Set to Bring Music, Culture, and Community to Chicago’s Lakefront
Festivities to be Headlined by R&B Legend Jon B.
(Chicago, IL) — Chicago’s South Shore neighborhood is gearing up for one of its most anticipated traditions as the 12th Annual South Shore Summer Fest returns to the historic South Shore Cultural Center, 7059 S. South Shore Drive on Sunday, August 16, 2026, from 12:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m.
This year’s festival promises to be one of the most exciting yet. The festivities will be headlined by R&B legend Jon B., whose smooth vocals and timeless hits will anchor a full day of national and local performances. The lineup also features Aziza Lisa, DJ Horace Holt, Mike Lawry, Honey Water, Louisiana Al & The 50 Yardline Blues Band, Nina Lanae, Zion Ali, and DJ Sundance, offering a dynamic mix of soul, blues, R&B, and Chicago’s own talent — all showcased on the festival’s main stage.
The South Shore Summer Fest continues its legacy as the neighborhood’s signature celebration of culture, commerce, and community pride. Families can enjoy local food vendors, a robust small‑business marketplace, and community resource booths.
5th Ward Alderman Desmon Yancy expressed pride over the event being held in the 5th Ward.
“The South Shore Summer Fest invites residents, families, and visitors from across Chicago to experience a full day of music, food, shopping, and celebration along the South lakefront,” said Yancy. “Whether you come for the performances, the community atmosphere, or the chance to support local businesses, we can’t wait to welcome everyone to the 5th Ward.”
The festival is sponsored and produced by Special Service Area #42, with additional corporate sponsors that include the South Shore Chamber of Commerce, JPMorgan Chase, Bally’s Casino, Power Construction, MGE Property Solutions, Lawrence Hall, Great Lakes Credit Union, SWAY and other partners dedicated to uplifting South Shore. Their contributions help ensure that the festival remains accessible, vibrant, and reflective of the community it serves.
Tonya Trice, Executive Director of the South Shore Chamber of Commerce, shared her excitement for this year’s event.
